Jennifer Heidgerd

Jennifer Heidgerd, Pet Nurse

Jen graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BS in Animal Science with equine option in 1987. She enjoys birdwatching, horse racing, photography, and watching “Chopped”. She has two orange kitties, Fred and George, and one guinea pig named Bob. Jen started working at sheabel in 1997. When Jen first started, there was a Sheabel “initiation”.

Amanda Chism Briggs

Amanda Chism Briggs, Pet Nurse

Amanda went to Georgetown College and had a double major in History and European Studies with a minor in French. She graduated in 2006 and is currently studying Veterinary Technology at Purdue University. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, making jewelry, and traveling. Amanda has 3 dogs named Molly, Tyra, and Izzie. She and her husband also keep tropical fish. Amanda began working at Sheabel in April 2011.

Jess Brochu

Jessica Troy, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Jess received her Associate degree in Veterinary and Animal Science in Massachusetts in 2012. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, hiking and spending time at the lake on her boat. She has three dogs, Bo (Australian shepherd mix), Annie (shepherd mix), and Bella (Chihuahua mix). Jess joined the Sheabel team in August 2013 and she served in the Army Reserves for 6 years with a six month deployment to Africa.

Trevon Townsend

Trevon Townsend, Pet Nurse

Trevon is currently attending Morehead State University majoring in Veterinary Technology with hopes of attending Veterinary School. His favorite hobbies include going to dirt track races, watching NASCAR and being outside with his 2 boxers. Trevon has 12 chickens, 4 cats, 4 fish, and 2 boxers named Zina and Blaine. Trevon started at Sheabel in November 2015.


Vanessa Jones, Pet Nurse

Vanessa received her bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology from Morehead State University, and she started working at Sheabel in May 2016. She loves spending time with family, friends and her pets. She has a 2-year-old cocker spaniel named Coal, a 4-year-old Siamese mix named Diesel, a 2-year-old domestic shorthair named Blair, a 2-year-old domestic shorthair named Nubbs and a 6-year-old rabbit named Copper. She also enjoys crafting, watching NASCAR and camping.

Emily Varner

Emily Varner, Pet Nurse

Emily is currently attending Bluegrass Community and Technical College. After graduating she plans to transfer to UK to major in animal science.
Emily enjoys singing, playing guitar, training her puppies and being in the country surrounded by her friends and family.

She has two dogs that are 3 years old and brothers. Their names are Boots and Bentley. Boots is laid back and lazy. Bentley is outgoing and spunky.
Emily is very open to new ideas and challenges. She loves to find solutions to problems and no problem is too much, there is always a solution! She is super excited to begin her journey with Sheabel!

Emily has been with Sheabel since August 2016.

Ellie Hershey, Veterinary Assistant

Ellie Hershey, Pet Nurse

In her free time, Ellie loves working with her dogs. She has 6 dogs – 5 Jack Russells and 1 Belgian Malinois. Ellie has been working at Sheabel since January 1998.

Anna Young-Gunnel

Anna Young-Gunnel, Pet Nurse

Anna graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in Biology in 2003. In her free time she enjoys reading and spending time with her son Eli and her husband Ron. Anna has four cats, Sweetie, Rogue, Emma, and Gambit, who are crazy and keep her very busy! Anna became a part of the Sheabel team in 2009 and works part time, mostly on Saturdays and Sundays. She has a full time job at the State Public Health Virology Lab in Frankfort.

Rayna Logan

Rayna Logan, Pet Nurse

Rayna graduated from Union College with a degree in Biology. She enjoys hiking, kayaking and traveling. Rayna has two Siberian huskies Loki and Baxter. She also has a bearded dragon named Achilles.Rayna began working at Sheabel in March 2017.

Chris, Pet Nurse

Chris has 4 dogs. 2 Shih-Tzu’s named Kobe and Miyu (which means beautiful moon in Japanese). A Husky named Bandit and a black Lab named Boss. Chris enjoys in his spare time snowboarding, car shows and playing with his dogs! Chris started at Sheabel in December 2016.
